Based on Fla. Stat. § 27.51(1), the Public Defender’s office of the Sixth Judicial Circuit represents indigent clients (adults and juveniles) subjected to:

- Criminal Traffic Offenses
Felony - Criminal contempt
- Involuntary inpatient placement under the Baker Act
- Involuntary outpatient placement under the Baker Act
- Involuntary commitment to residential services with the Agency for Persons with Disabilities
- Involuntary civil commitment for sexually violent offenders
- Adult and Juvenile Drug Courts
- Veterans Treatment Courts
In addition, PD6 is privileged to participate in the following community collaborations:

- Juvenile Crossover Program
- Road to Success Grant Program for Juveniles in the Crossover Division
- Diversion and Recovery Program with the assistance of the Pinellas & Pasco County Boards of County Commissioners
- Homeless Outreach Program with the assistance of the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office
- Public Defender Clinics specializing in both Criminal Advocacy and Juvenile Advocacy with the assistance of Stetson University College of Law
