Based on Fla. Stat. § 27.51(1), the Public Defender’s office of the Sixth Judicial Circuit represents indigent clients (adults and juveniles) subjected to:

  • Misdemeanor
  • Criminal Traffic Offenses
    Felony
  • Criminal contempt
  • Involuntary inpatient placement under the Baker Act
  • Involuntary outpatient placement under the Baker Act
  • Involuntary commitment to residential services with the Agency for Persons with Disabilities
  • Involuntary civil commitment for sexually violent offenders
  • Adult and Juvenile Drug Courts
  • Veterans Treatment Courts

In addition, PD6 is privileged to participate in the following community collaborations:

• • Juvenile Crossover Program
  • Road to Success Grant Program for Juveniles in the Crossover Division
  • Diversion and Recovery Program with the assistance of the Pinellas & Pasco County Boards of County Commissioners
  • Homeless Outreach Program with the assistance of the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office
  • Public Defender Clinics specializing in both Criminal Advocacy and Juvenile Advocacy with the assistance of Stetson University College of Law
